The Cat Lady takes a whale watch!

Here are some photos of Mommy’s first whale watch. We’ve got 6 tails in this house, why’d she have to go way out in the ocean to see these tails we don’t understand. She’s leaving by way of Provincetown harbor.

Longpoint Lighthouse on the way to Stellwagon Bank…the place where the whales live.

Every local (they return every season) whale has a name, I think this is “Salt”

Two at once!

Wow, four whales!

Flag at the stern…I used to think this was called “Rear Admirial” I have no idea where I got that from.
This U.S. Yacht Ensign (An ensign is a distinguishing flag of a ship or a military unit) was created in 1848 as a signal flag to be used by U.S. yachts. This was not intended to be an ensign, but was intended to be used as a signal flag by a yacht to declare itself exempt from customs duties. However, many nautical vessels started using this as an ensign, and eventually the government announced that they would accept this pr actice for boats in United States waters. It’s a cool looking flag even though it does not designate one’s posterior region as being admirable.

The hazy August sunset…

and the fun whale on the building. Whale Watching is highly recommended by the Cat Lady, it is not dorky, it’s cool. We have two options here in P-Town: Dolphin Feet and Captain John’s. Now the Captain also offers deep sea fishing, floating classroom excursions and a ferry from Plymouth. I think I met Captain John near his home on Arch St, which is a favorite photo spot of mine.

The weather is almost always nice in Provincetown, Massachusetts so come and take a whale watch!

Glorious! I would like to catch one of those fishies.
My mum has gone whale watching too. I think she’s made - she can look at my tail any time!
Beautiful pictures! I’ve never done that before. Love the cat picture too. Looks like he was about to wash something…

whale watching goes well into the fall, and room rates go down, shops have sales and everything is less crowed with the bean kids back in school. Just bring a sweater!
